Didn't know if anyone here have any thoughts on Malware Bytes Premium in regards to its anti-virus, anti-rootkit, and malware detection/prevention capabilities. Didn't know if it was robust enough to act as standalone, or should it be used in conjunction with other programs as part of a multi-level approach.

The "premium" version of MalwareBytes doesn't really do much more than the free version, other than the fact that it runs continuously "in the background" and (I think) scans any incoming files automatically.

If you want to pay for it, fine, do so.
But the free version seems to do what most folks need.
Just remember to run it a few times a week, or any time you have downloaded something you have reason to be suspicious...

The difference is connection to newest treats at different time scales for different time periods to receive updates when using the program like an old virus scanner all the time!

Difference is that premium runs in background and is continuously monitoring and being updated. Whereas free does same checks but only when manually run. Free version is perfectly adequate and great bargain that I feel everyone should occasionally use. But having used app for many years and appreciated its usefulness, I have personally chosen to pay for premium to help support.

The free version is great and a must have I pay for the premium just to support the company. You can avoid malware by using some common sense, blocking ads and malware with Ublock Origin or a browser like Brave and using a secure DNS that blocks malware. Im a fan of cloudflare's 1.1.1.2 and 1.0.0.2 but Adguard and many others offer good DNS with protection as well.
