Hello All, I just wanted get your thoughts and opinions of the below situation, me working all day on 11inch MBA is a bad idea or not. I basically hate slow computers and I get frustrated quite easily with them. I have been working mostly from home the last 4 months or so, and I have a 27inch iMac, one of the more powerful specs, which I bought earlier this year. I was using this iMac in my office before 4 months ago, so when I decided to work from home, I took it with me. I also own an 11inch MBA which I bought last year. I wanted the smallest laptop I could get from Apple but the most powerful in the small. So I put an i7 processor and plenty of memory in it. For a 11inch MBA it's pretty good, it can handle CS6, everyday photoshop tasks OKish. Better than most PC's I have owned. Now, I have decided I need to be in the office again, it may be temporary, or it may be permanent - I don't know. Now, I don't want to move the iMac back and forth again. I work almost 12 hours or so most days in front of a computer, or at least my computer is on 12 hours or more. I basically need a stable and fast computer. I run a lot of applications at the same time. Now, none of these are really powerful applications, so I don't really use things like CS6 or photoshop etc. It's standard office applications like Outlook, loads of browser based SAAS/Cloud applications etc. But I will have 10 ore more browser applications open at the same time and various installed applications as well. Now I know MacBook Pro's are so much more powerful than MBA's. However. I don't like to waste money unnecessarily especially if the MBA will do the job fine. There is a side of me that is looking for an excuse to by a MacBook Pro. I am trying to become a more considerate person, and less wasteful. However, I also won't accept the MBA becoming damaged through over use or running very slowly when I am trying to work. So the question I want to ask is: 1. Is it OK to run a MBA for 12 hours a day, regularly, basically using it like a desktop? 2. If I use it like a desktop is there any chance it will damage it? 3. Do you think MBA will cope fine with the give tasks? I know I will only know when I try. I ask the above questions because I am not sure if the MBA is designed for long continuous use? I may be wrong. I would like to hear from anyone who has used MBA for long hours regularly for a long time. There must be loads of developers or other professions who used MBA's for long continuous use? It's my first MBA so I am not sure how far I can push it like this! Thank you in advance.
