Thanks

Thanks for the very helpful info - most appreciated. Just installed Mac OS X Leopard version 10.5 yesterday, so hope that will enable the RosettaStone software to work on my G4. Now that I've installed the 10.5, it seems my desktop info will sit only on the right side of my screen, whereas I used to be able to put it anywhere. Any thoughts?

Keeping this thread alive

For those of you who have tried RS on the mac, I have a few questions before I buy:

1) Is it truly Mac friendly (as opposed to some pseudo-friendly product that barely works on the Mac)?

2) The sales guy said that I could install it on up to three (or was it 5?) computers in my home so that multiple users in my family can learn the language. Is this true? That would be a great selling point since my spouse and children and I could each learn on our own computers simultaneously.

3) It comes with a microphone/headset. Is that required or can the built-in microphone and speakers on my Mac suffice?

4) Can I install it entirely on the hard drive so that I can learn while traveling with my laptop and not need to bother with carrying CDs/DVD?

5) Is there any annoying activation/serialization that would make using the product less friendly than they salespeople suggest?

We're planning a trip to Italy and this sounds like exactly what the family needs. From all the reviews, I know the learning experience is excellent, but I don't want to take the plunge if the ownership experience on the Mac isn't as painless as all the other stuff I do with my Mac.

Thanks!

Yes it works perfectly :D

Not sure.

The built in speakers work fine for me (I hate having Head Phones).

4) Can I install it entirely on the hard drive so that I can learn while traveling with my laptop and not need to bother with carrying CDs/DVD?
Yes you can run it without a disc.

5) Is there any annoying activation/serialization that would make using the product less friendly than they salespeople suggest?
No not that I remember.

Thank you for your very thorough response. It sounds like exactly what we need!
