Seems like they’re off the fall cycle... any rumors on next release?

Well they have No Competition in the tablet sector. The Only competition seems to be challenging up above their weight class and stealing sales away from Microsoft Surface but that’s a PC replacement running Windows 10.
And Wacom Drawing tablets. And Some light weight laptop sales. Apple has no reason to release a New IPad Pro.

My guess is shake things up. With a new iPad Mini with an A10 Chip. New Colors.

We will know more new WWDC in 2018 Apple usually keeps a Big Splash Hardware release for that Conference
If you look at Rumors from May 2017 We will know if there’s ANY Change coming by Seeing New Case sizes.

And my Main Soeculation is IF the iPad Pro Losses the Home Button Cases will need to get Smaller. That how we will know early.

I hope and it’s a Longshot.

A11X CPU 6 Cores
HDR OLED 10.5” 120hz ProMotion Display
No Home Button Physically Smaller and thinner than Current 10.5” unit.
Face ID (no notch)

Again my Guess is there Will be NO new iPad in 2018 except an updated new iPad Mini at WWDC in June

I hope this isn’t the case, unless the Mini is a “Pro”. I’d love an OLED display, no bezels, FaceID, etc. I would want to keep Pencil support and of course the processor and ram of the Pro models. I’d go for a smaller screen if need be, I kind of miss my Mini sometimes anyway. They’d really need to make FaceID work in Portrait and Landscape though.

I agree probably a September release, the ipads currently are super fast and do everything without nay hiccups so I don’t think apple will rush out to put another one right away.

It will probably launch shortly before the 2018 iPhones.

A12 is expected to be on 7nm, which means Apple wants to ensure the process is mature. This means running A11X through 7nm first. A11X has to be launched before A12. We saw exactly the same timeline this year with A10X and A11.

Apple shifted the Mac and iPad lineups to summer refreshes at WWDC this year. I see no reason why they would shift it back to fall in 2018 as both the Intel and Apple A11X chips will be ready in time for WWDC 2018. As for an iPad Mini refresh, I find it doubtful that they are going to refresh it. I dont think the sales are there to support Apple giving it a refresh. Then again Apple just said how the Mac Mini is a important part of the Mac lineup in the future so who knows where the iPad Mini stands at this point.

Am I the only one that wishes they would either switch to or include usb-c/thunderbolt on the pro versions. A lot of us use ipad for music production and the new interfaces are starting to go Thunderbolt for multi-track near zero latency.

Any idea how many million of dollars in Licensing royalties or fees sales of Lightning that represents. Where as USB-C is an open standard and would earn Apple Nothing.

They'll be announced one week after you buy a new one.

SO TRUE!!!! I have a Gen 1 12.9 Pro, which is great and more than powerful enough for iOS 11. But my son's is a Mini 2, and he has 16gb which isn't cutting it. I may upgrade and give him mine. We'll see....
