I haven’t seen one dedicated thread for UI software changes we’d like to see changed. Thought I’d start one to see if we’re mostly on the same page.

Mine would be:

1. Swipe up to unlock. I’d love to skip the notifications screen and just have the phone open to home screen when Face ID unlocks. Swiping up seems like an extra step.
2. Long press to quit an app. I wish we could just swipe up from the app switcher to close an app. Again, this feels redundant.

Those are my main two. It would be nice to have the option in settings to change these.

*Edit*
Just thought of another one.

Face ID should work in landscape mode. It’s annoying to have to rotate it back to portrait just to unlock the phone again. Never realized how often I let my phone lock while viewing something in landscape. Lol

I agree with both. The one thing I would add is the battery percentage on the lock and home screen. I know that there is limited space in the notch, but using the battery indicator from the Apple Watch seems like it would be the perfect solution.

1) option to remove the home bar
2) let me swipe up anywhere on the home screen, not just from the bottom.
3) more comprehensive control centre editing. Let me move things around where I want. Let me add other apps too, not just the oddly specific list provided
4) let me customise the shortcut icons on the home screen. I can already swipe for the camera so I could use that icon for something else. Maybe let me have four across the bottom
5) always on display option on lock screen for time/select notifications like upcoming appointments. It'd move around to prevent burn in and be very dim so wouldn’t use a lot of battery
5a) same for Apple Watch please. Series 3 battery can take a static dim monochrome always-on watchface
6) let me edit the ears. I want battery percentage for example
7) if I select live wallpapers for the lock screen give em th riot ion tomanimate them without needing to use 3D Touch (which is insane and makes them pointless currently)
8) let me rearrange icons on the home screen. Seriously overdue.
9) I’d like some form of widget. Something like windows phone live tiles I could apply and could be scaled to the iOS tile grid layout

Allow me to speed up or eliminate the animations. One thing I miss from Jailbreaking.

Also some gesture to turn the screen off. Squeeze the sides or something. I hate reaching up for the Side Button.

A screen off gesture would be nice. Never thought of that

Every single thing above is available on Android. I know, I know, Android sucks ...

Number 1 would be okay if iOS handled notifications the way android did. Skipping the home screen is unacceptable when iOS handles notifications so poorly.

I wish they’d rewrite the music app. The user interface is not intuitive and the animation seemed so unnatural compared to the rest of the iOS.

And also agree with closing apps by swiping up in the app switcher without having to long press.

Add a location toggle and let us customize what we want to see. Not have it limited to four toggles at the upper left of the Control Center.

To bring Control Center with the X, it should from the bottom right side.

Make Reachability gesture easier and not precise.

Put the battery % inside the battery meter.

I want lockscreen notifications and toggles to be together like on Android. Not have two different areas for them.

When you swipe away the lockscreen messages, it should swipe away instantly from either direction. Not swipe left and ask you to either View|Clear.

I don’t mind android, but I can’t help fiddling with it - because I can. So I spend more time adjusting things than just using the damn phone :) and I often get frustrated when the manufacturer doesn’t update the software quickly

- Auto rotating wallpapers
- Scrolling status bar
- Home screen customisation
- Customise lock screen shortcuts
- Customise control centre options
- Better interactive settings and toggle shortcuts
- Picture in picture/split screen
- Better multitasking
- Customise lock screen and clock options
- Always on display for OLED screen
- revamped notifications or at least grouping
- Better widgets
- more camera options
- theming and icon packs
- true dark mode

They’d sell so many more!

Ability to change camera/video settings from within the camera app. It's frustrating to have to go all the way out to the Settings app, drill down, make a selection, and go back to the camera app just to change from 1080p60fps to 4k or whatever.

I do not understand why home screen folders only show 9 apps when there is so much more screen they could use to make a bigger folder overlay.

After unlock with Face ID, the phone could auto open if there are no notifications displayed.

I would like a location aware home screen that at the very least displays apps most used in different locations on the front page.

Not UI, but I would like to be able to assign something other than Hey Siri to initiate Siri.

I’d like to see Control Center merged with the search bar screen. That way you can just pull down anywhere on the home screen to get to Control Center. All they’d have to do is put the search bar above the controls. All other times you could still pull down from the ear. There’s something weird about having FOUR different screens you can access from the home screen. To the left is the search/widget screen. Pulling down is a search only screen. Then notifications and Control Center. Surely 1 of these can be consolidated.

Haptic feedback for the home swipe! I’m still convinced the lack of any feedback for the swipe is a bug. There IS haptic feedback when swiping home, but only when doing it from Control Center. It should be like that system-wide.

Ability to black out the ears except for icons in white. At least within apps. They can leave the notch on home/lock screen to have their precious marketing shape. Notch doesn’t bother me but blacking it out will still be better for most apps.

Ability to remove the home bar (line). Or it should really just fade away 3 seconds after going into an app.

I hear you.
I really miss activator. So much power and customization options to the user. Freedom that Apple unfortunately will never provide to us.

They might... After people have asked for years already and it's been on Android devices for a while.

It seems as much as Android copies iOS, it's the other way around too.
