Well I've seen plenty of back and forth going on between the LG and the Chei Mei screen about which one is better. I went to best buy armed with this knowledge and they had a mbp with the 85 model, the chei mei and I would be completely happy with that screen, its gorgeous. If the 84 is even better and I get the 84 then even better but I'd be perfectly happy with the 85.

I received my MBP last week and it turns out I got the 9C84. I'm a photographer, so color accuracy is important (I'm saving up for either the NEC 2490 or next gen 23" ACD). In the meantime, I was able to manually adjust the color profile to my liking. The screen is actually much better than I thought it would be (it's better than the 24" iMac I had for a week).

Editing pictures during the day is IMPOSSIBLE because of the reflections, but at night, even with lights on, I see no reflections!

what the heck...i just checked my panel and it said 09c80. What is that? I bought this May 2008.

So far the panel has been pretty good. There is a bit of color change and shifting when you move from side to side and also top and bottom view. But isn't that normal in a laptop panel. I've had worse on my HP laptop.

Can anyone verify what model this is? And it's probably too late to change now...right?

9C80 = panel by AUO. Don't forget that the model numbers change with every revision...

Thanks for the link. I did a search of "09c80" and got weird results.
Crap, I've never heard of AUO...guess I got stuck with a low end version.
I do photography work so color is really important.

Yeah...I purchased mine in May 08. I'm happy with the purchase other than a few quirks.

And maybee 1 on "so many" crack spontaneously!

There seems to be a lot of stuff going on with both, the macbook pro and macbook screens, not only colors, strange lines, but also cracks through the whole of the screen. Apple asks you to repair it yourself, for only 800 USD or more (in my case) while the same LCD screen can be purschased for 230 usd and if you are a little handy you can DIY (apart from the fact that apple should change screens by service!).

Read more, www.macbook-pro-cracked.com also for the normal macbook! And see all the cases at mybiggestcomplaint.com which can be found here, http://mybiggestcomplaint.com/apple-macbook-pro/568/

It is time apple wakes up! I have seen the new macbook, now it is one bit of Alu, so i am 100% convinced this problem is verry known at apple!

BAD BOY APPLE! :)

Macbook Screen Repaired!

Had a hard time coming to grips knowing that I'd have to pay a fortune to get my Macbook screen replaced. Being a graduate student in LA, I learned that a fellow classmate had accidentally stepped on my bag, crushing the Macbook Pro LCD screen inside. I was not pleased. And I was short on cash. Luckily I came across this service and even more luckily I found that the do repairs in LA. Check them out! www.crackedmacscreen.com I think they also have a send in service for those of you out of town!
