Hi,

I am looking for a thumbnail viewer for an external drive if they make one.
I have iMac 2011, lion.
I noticed when i transfer raw image files to an external hd, one cannot view them.
I must transfer the entire 6-7 gig folder back to my iMac hd for viewing.

To click a image and use preview, or some other program on a singular basis would be too tedious and time consuming. I need to search for specific photos.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Richard

By "raw", do you mean the raw file format?
Or are the files in some other format, such as jpg?

I suggest you add Graphic Converter to your applications folder.

GC has an excellent file and folder "browser" that will let you scan through archived folders. Just select a particular folder, and it will present you with a page of thumnails through which you can quickly browse around.

thumbnail viewer

Sorry, maybe i was unclear. what i mean is that i transfer large files to my external hard drive. then if i desire to view the files; whatever format; tiff, raw, or jpg, one cannot view them form the hard drive as yo can on your iMac hd folder, where if you select an image the image just pops up. on the external nothing happens. i suppose because it is not a computer w/a program which allows one to view it. so in order to view files i have to then copy them back to my computer hard drive which takes considerable time.
What do you mean with
?

How can you not view them? How do you try to view them? Have you tried QuickLook (select a file in Finder, press SPACEBAR) or Icon View (when a Finder window is open and active, press CMD+1)?
