Every once in a while I see files named "Thumbs.db". Are these from Windows? I've done some importing of files and pictures from my PC, so I'm wondering if they're just coming from that aren't necessary. Or are these important for my mac too? I've been deleting most of them.

You get them in Windows, yes. I assume it has something to do with image/video thumbnails when viewing folders. Tbh I've deleted plenty of them in Windows before and it doesn't seem to make much difference, they just come back again 😛

I have no idea if Mac uses them at all... doubt it.

miniConvert is right. These are thumnail files generated by Windows Explorer in XP.

OS X does not use them.
