hey, ive searched through the forums, and havnt found the answer that im looking for.
I just downloaded and set up Thunderbird to work with Gmail IMAP, all the settings are correct, I am able to send a receive messages, all my labels show up as folders in thunderbird, which is nice. But i have a new problem.

Deleting messages:

deleting from inbox does nothing, message is still in all mail,
deleting from all mail sends message to trash folder, then emptying the trash folder seems to go okay. But then i click all mail again, and the messages that i deleted are there again!

I have no idea what to do to get deleting messages to work, but it is killing me, anyone know what to do ?

thanks

Look into preferences in both your app and your gmail.

You are probably not deleting messages from server.

i have looked almost everywhere, it must be something simple that i am missing, how do i change that setting to the correct one that i want. ?

i was using apple mail at first, but it freezes up on me all the time, so i had to move away from it... It wasnt just one situation either, it would freeze fetching, sending, and closing, so i just left it all together for thunderbird....

still have yet to find out how to delete messages correctly in thunderbird with gmail..
