Where can I get an adapter that is compatible with the thunderbolt 2 ports on the new macbook pros and goes to one or more usb3 inputs ports?
Thanks for any advice.

Thanks. Those are a bit expensive. I think I'll just stick with using a usb 3hub from one of the USB ports for now.
Hopefully the thunderbolt 2 ports will become more useful in time.

Whats the point with thunderbolt 2 to usb 3.0 when you can just buy an usb 3.0 hub for few bucks?

The primary use I can think of would be for Macs with thunderbolt ports but still running USB 2.0 ports (most notably 2011 Macs). It would represent a cheaper alternative to a thunderbolt doc for adding USB 3.0 ports. This is a very niche market, which probably explains the insane prices of the aforementioned adaptor.
