Thunderbolt 2 + USB 3.1

Within the next year I plan to purchase either a new iMac or a new Macbook Pro. The current iterations of both are fine, but I feel like both products are on the verge of a massive update. Both products have gone through incremental upgrades within the past few years, without a big refresh. I'm wondering what the future might hold.

Does anyone have any knowledge when the new Thunderbolt 2 spec and the USB 3.1 spec might be adopted? Since both the Macbook Pro and iMac were recently updated, I'd imagine that the next version would have the news specs... right?

Any insight?

Thunderbolt 2 is already here in the last updated Macbook Pro's, the new USB 3.1 you shouldn't expect for a while.. honestly its not worth the wait. I've literally just bought mine today and typing in my brand new 15" Retina.. and its a gorgeous machine!
