Hi MacRumors, I just need a little guidance here.
I have an iMac (27-inch, Late 2013) with Thunderbolt 1 ports (the old mini display kind)
I'm buying an external drive which is TB3 in the USB Type-C format that I want to connect up.
Is there an adapter to convert TB3 to TB1? Would this even work?
There is lots of information about going from TB3 to TB2 but nothing about going to TB1.
The apple cable wouldn't work https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT207266
as one end is female. I need a TB3 USB C male to a Mini display TB 1 male. UNLESS you can go
iMac > old TB1 mini display cable > Apple adapter > TB 3 cable > external HD drive
Thanks in advance!
EDIT: I found this. It's for display use but it shouldn't matter, right? Does anyone have any experience?
