I have a macbook pro connected to the thunderbolt display. The display ethernet stopped working would not get an ip address, my switch is showing the ethernet connected, and if I attached another mac to the ethernet port it worked just fine. So I removed the display ethernet on the map, and was going to re-add it but when I go to add it there is no option to add the display ethernet, I can add display firewire but no option to add the display ethernet. So anybody have a way to re-add the display ethernet

Thanks in advance

Thanks Alrescha, not sure when it happened, it's my wife's Mac. But I did do an update on it this morning not sure if it was working before the update or not. This all started when she could not login into messenger giving an iCloud authentication problem, even though the username and password was correct (I could log into iCloud through the browser). So I saw an update available so did the update, didn't fix the messenger issue. So looking at the network setting noticed that the ethernet was not connected, but wifi was working. So after checking the cabling, switch port and such, I removed the display ethernet. Once I did this it cleared up her iCloud issue. But know stuck without ethernet, only wifi.

But I think you are right that this update broke it. The update was already downloaded to her Mac, so it basically just needed a reboot to update it.

Thanks again
