A roll your own bus powered SATA3 2.5 inch Thunderbolt case is my holy grail. I hope that this is it.

Did some independent research on this one. Should be around early 2013.

    Updated news on this case:

    http://www.heise.de/mac-and-i/meldung/2-5-Zoll-Gehaeuse-mit-Thunderbolt-1788209.html

    Summary from Google tranlation:
    - Mid February
    - 90 to 108 euros (translates to $121 to $145 us)
    - In discussion with Apple and Intel as to whether it can be offered bare.

That last one troubles me. Are Apple and Intel blocking the sale of bare thunderbolt cases? If so, that's pretty screwed up. Also the translated pricing doesn't seem right. Adding a 120GB to it would make the Lacie a bargain.

I also found it mentioned on a Taiwan reseller site. Here it was listed as 32-64GB which gives credence to it not being offered bare. At least it seems like they are lowballing the drive for people that just want to pull it. Full specs on the site but you have to inquire for the pricing:
