I have a macbook air and a Thunderbolt display.
Basically I want to use them as extended screens with the Thunderbolt as main display showing the dock and the macbook's screen as additional ...

Have not yet been able to find out how to do this without closing the macbook's lid and losing that second display ...

Any help is appreciated here.

Thanks!

So you just want to move the dock to the center screen?
Go into System Preferences/Displays/Arrangement and drag the white bar at the top to the screen you want to use.

Whatever screen the top apple bar is on, the dock will follow.
