Quick, maybe silly question. I was just wondering whether it would be possible to make an SSD raid array, attached through thunderbolt that was faster than the internal SSD in the iMac.
I guess what I'm really asking is whether thunderbolt is as fast as the sata connection in the iMac, in terms of real world speeds as well as theoretical speeds.
 
Yep 2 SSD's in raid 0 connected via thunderbolt will be faster than an internal SSD. I'm pretty sure Lacie is making a product which is exactly that. And if I remember correctly the internal sata connections are 6Gb/s whereas thunderbolt is 10Gb/s, don't quote me on that though :p
