Quick, maybe silly question. I was just wondering whether it would be possible to make an SSD raid array, attached through thunderbolt that was faster than the internal SSD in the iMac.
I guess what I'm really asking is whether thunderbolt is as fast as the sata connection in the iMac, in terms of real world speeds as well as theoretical speeds.

Can't personally answer any of your question but according to a Pro Photographer(trey Ratcliff) i was listening to in a G+ Hangout, using his thunderbolt hd is like an SSD speedwise.

Yep 2 SSD's in raid 0 connected via thunderbolt will be faster than an internal SSD. I'm pretty sure Lacie is making a product which is exactly that. And if I remember correctly the internal sata connections are 6Gb/s whereas thunderbolt is 10Gb/s, don't quote me on that though 😛
