Thunderbolt to FEMALE Display port

    Do these adapters exist? Display is becoming more and more popular, and getting this adapter to use a screen with my MBP would really useful...

    Can't you just use a regular Mini DisplayPort (plugged into MBP's Thunderbolt port) to DisplayPort (plugged into display) male-male cable?

    Yes, they exist, just look on MonoPrice.com for such cables (MiniDisplayPort to DisplayPort*).

    * if DisplayPort is what you mean with "female DisplayPort"

    No, I want FEMALE display port, e.g. a Display port Socket..

    So you have a display with DisplayPort input and a DisplayPort cable, that is attached to the display and can't be removed and only works with a DisplayPort plug?
    Does that mean something like this (found here) would not work?
