kind of hosed myself stocking up on FW800 drives since i had a 5 year old iMac. Now that i bought a new MBP, i gain a #%$t load of stuff, but loose 2 USB ports (but gain 2 TB2 ports). the said thunderbolt ports go unused.

is there no TB to USB3 adapters? I guess i could get a USB hub, but the last one i got sparked when i hooked it up to my then new early 2011 15" MBP (kensington brand, not a shady $2 hub). am i better off just getting a hub and hoping for the best? mono price has one for $20 - and i have had great luck with their products

There are Thunderbolt to USB 3.0 adapters (like this one), but they are not cheap. A USB hub is certainly a better option. You might want to get a wall-powered hub if you don't need it to be portable.
