Thundrbolt (2013) iMac as display for 2010 Mac Pro?

can this work in anyway? os is it a dead end?

i heard thunderbolt ports are not backward compatible with mini display port.

a 2010 Mac Pro has DVI and MD ports. can my 2013 TB iMac use a TB > DVI adapter and connect to the 2010 Mac Pro via its DVI Out?

if it is a thunderbolt equipped iMac, both have to be thunderbolt. There is an apple support article somewhere than describes it.

I have been hoping someone would figure out an adapter to use the thunderbolt iMac as a screen to plug in an Xbox or other HDMI device, but nothing has come out yet.
