TiBook running while lid is shut. safe or not?

I recently broke my TiBook's LCD (technically just killed the backlight). While I wait to someday try to fix it...I want to use it w/ an external monitor. I prefer to keep the lid closed but I've been told that it may eventually overheat or damage something else.

Any feedback on such a scenario? What say you?

Have no problems with my powerbook... i dont close the lid completely but almost

id just play it safe and leave the screen opened.. its better to be safe than sorry.
