Tidal as a replacement for iTunes... remote?

Hey!

So after 15 years of my lossless iTunes library, 4 high end stereos running off apple expresses around my house, I am thinking of abandoning iTunes all together in favor of tidal. The support for this audio ecosystem is seemingly falling, the remote app is abysmal.

So, questions for you all...

I will try using airfoil to stream tidal to my multiple stereos. However the missing link is controlling tidal on my Mac from my phone. Is there any way to do this??? Research on this topic suggests Spotify can do this, but I really need today’s lossless quality.

Any way to control tidal on my Mac from my phone? Elegantly?????!!!???

You might want to look into (very expensive) Roon. Handles most lossless formats:

Integrates Tidal with your iTunes media. Core would run on your Mac, then could control your clients via your iPhone. Devices that I currently have registered include a 4K Blu-ray player, Apple TV, HomePods, iMac speakers, Sonarworks True-Fi, Meridian DAC. Supported devices not limited to:

Note that playback on Apple Devices is restricted. Can't play on an iPad or iPhone speakers, mono only HomePods. So before committing I'd use a trial to make sure your devices will work.

In Roon on my iPhone I just started a Tidal track playing on my HomePods, then transferred the playback to my Blu-Ray player (and stereo receiver/speakers), then to a a Bedroom HomePod.

I've been a Roon user for a couple of months. I discovered it by accident and my initial reaction was that I'd never pay that amount of money for a piece of streaming/library software ($119 a year or $495 for a lifetime subscription). I did a trial though and decided to go ahead with the purchase of a lifetime subscription within a day of first installing it although I did wait until about day 10 of the trial to actually place my order just in case things emerged that changed my mind. If I hadn't seen Richard (the OP) use the term "high end stereo" let alone 4 of them in his post I might not suggest it but the way I justified the purchase was, on the basis that I also have a high end stereo (only one though!) where my speaker stands cost more than a Roon lifetime sub I viewed it as just another component in my audio system so $500 didn't seem such a big deal for a one-time purchase.

I use Roon for both my locally stored CD rips and purchased downloads and also with my Tidal sub. Roon seamlessly integrates both together, has a very nice iPad remote, and can also integrate with Qobuz. I haven't tried Qobuz integration yet but it's nice to have an extra option if ever wanting to try something as well as or instead of Tidal.
