So is this 400 fixes based on the original release of Tiger or from 10.4.2?

If it's from the original release of Tiger, it's only 200 additional bug fixes above what 10.4.2 fixes.

Sorry if I overlooked this information, but do we have a (supposed) release date on this coming update? I'm really looking forward to seeing what it fixes and if it changes anything about anything I actually use. :)

The burning question every MR member wants to know is, with the release of 10.4.3, will wdlove upgrade to Tiger? I definitely need to know.

Very good point. I remember people going crazy about the 10.3.9 update adding about 100 new things, then people realised that almost all of them were added in 10.3.1-8.

Speaking of which, anyone remember the "Waiting for 10.4.2" thread which seemed to last for weeks? I remember saying back then that 10.4.2 had better finally make Tiger usable, and it has. I still pine for the stability, smoothness, and deactivated iBook fan 99% of the time that Panther offered (compared to almost all the time when I have more than iTunes, Adium and Camino open in Tiger). I sadly can't go back to Panther because I no longer have Panther compatible backups of my Mail folders - and I'm damned if I'm losing my Mail - but if 10.4.3 can't fix the overall disappointingness (note: this word now exists for a brief moment) of Tiger, I'll be tempted just to forget the Mail and concentrate on having a less annoying OS on my Mac.

93 megs! wow i feel bad for people with dialup.
Yeah, but the 93 megs probably has all of the debug code in it still, which can be a sizeable chunk. This is a develper-only build after all. I'm sure that it will be smaller when it finally hits.

Unless a developer can give us an idea what the patch size of the pre-builds are as compared to the final release?

Not that big a deal; really it doesn't take any time at all. See, just start before you go to bed, and when you wake up it's done...so it doesn't SEEM to take any time, anyway....

I've never had any problems with Tiger either... Great OS.

On a related note, in the computer labs I work at, the iMac G4s running Panther have a problem with mice freezing up. I have to Shift-apple-Q to log out and reboot the computers for our clients. It's just a bit annoying and I don't exactly know why...

What version of Panther...there was an issue with this, briefly, mid-cycle, I thought, that was resolved.

I don't know, but they are updating to Tiger so it should be okay.

Looks like Apple sees the massive problems in Tiger and are preparing a massive patch. Let's hope this release finally gets Tiger to commercial quality.

I hope Apple takes their time and gets this bug fixing patch right.

Never had an issue, 10.4 on up.

It should be around half, and remember your individual mileage my vary based on your hardware and what patches you have already installed.

How did you know his name? I fear for my anonymity.

I also welcome the bug fixes, but there are 2 that really kill me.

Brent isn't my name. Probably someone joking around or Apple legal trying to be clever. :)

The story is now up on Think Secret and AppleInsider. They have more details.

I'm on 10.3.9 and it runs fantastic, looking forward to Tiger.

*Box is waiting to be opened*

Have to do a big backup before...

Edit: Thanks for the news, Brent.

I gotta say I'm waiting for 10.4.3 before upgrading to Tiger also. The reports on 10.4.2 were hit or miss. Everything's working fine in Panther, os I can wait.
