Has anyone used iSight and Tiger for a one-on-one video conference between two regular DSL or Cable subscribers (i.e. not corporate T1 line or anything)? I'm thinking about getting my mom an iMac G5 (total overkill for her purposes) so she can talk to the grandkids, but I want to make sure the video thing is something one can really use--that the novelty will not wear off after a week. Has anyone used it in Tiger with the new so-called amazing compression technology?

Yes, my mother has a 256mbs cable connection and an iBook and she was amazed and astonished when we tried it out a week or so back. Admittedly we were doing one-way video since she wasn't convinced she wanted an iSight until after she'd seen it working.
