Damn the new Mail app is ugly. Just curious, though. What in that screenshot makes it so obvious it is iPhoto 4, not 5. Is the new icon different?

Slightly different, but iPhoto 5's entire interface is totally different. Compare what's in that little video thing to iPhoto 5 below (from Apple's own website):

Upgrade to iLife 2005 from Tiger

Apple has created important business around iTunes and iPhoto with Music Store and photo prints and could risk that many users will pass to other free media manager and relative stores if the software bundled with Tiger will not come with the latest standard features.

So I try to think different.

- iTunes 5 and iPhoto 5 included in Tiger.
- $ 49 iLife 05 "authoring version" with iMovie HD, iDVD 5 and Garageband 2, or bundled with Tiger at $ 179.

It can justify the price of complete version raised to $ 79 and certainly will increase profits from Tiger at its launch.

If you buy a NEW Appe computer after Tiger's out, you will get iLife '05 with it right out of the box.

If you are updating from Panther, and have iLife '05 now, then the update will keep your apps on there (like every past OS X update has in the past).

People who have Panther and iLife '04 and upgrade to Tiger will still have iLife '04 when Tiger's running. If they want iLife '05, they will have to buy it. This is almost what I did early last summer when I updated from Jaguar to Panther, I bought iLife '04. I just got iLife '05 last month along with iWork, so now I only have to get buy the final version of Tiger to be up to date (okay, maybe some more RAM too, up to 1GB from 512)! :)
