I need to reinstall from the Tiger disc, but I don’t want to have to wipe my drive.

Can i install the bootable os9 drivers without wiping the drive?

When I reinstall, where do my existing files go? System stuff like shapeshifter, files in my user account, and external stuff like applications.

If they weren't there previously, no, because they are essentially mini partitions the drive must be repartitioned.

A regular reinstall with Mac OS is no different than an update.

But if you need to install the OS 9 drivers, you will need to wipe the disk. You can create a clone of the boot partition in Disk Utility and then restore that after reformatting with OS 9 drivers.

Ok my plan is to just reinstall on my drive and then install the system 9 drivers on the SSD I’m switching over to.
