Two people wrote that they were unable to update to 10.4 from 10.2. Try backing up your files, format the hard drive and do a clean install.

Did a little research on Apple's site and the only thing I can come up with is "Erase and Install". In other words, do a clean installation.:(

Back up all your important stuff. ;)
