This is similar to rare earth minerals exports. China won't allow full export of those minerals. They know they have the U.S. by the balls.

TikTok is similar. It's a powerful tool that Americans need. China is not going to sell the secret sauce that makes it so popular. Otherwise, Americans could turn around, build a better app, and actually use it for disinformation.
Nobody *needs* TikTok

I bet 99% of you people watch TikTok daily.
I had TikTok for maybe a week and then deleted it. The worst social network. Algorithm totally untethered to my likes and needs, nauseating scrolling. I am susceptible to digital eye strain (especially with HDR content and OLED), yet TikTok does something that would wreck me up for the rest of a day… nausea comparable to drinking coffee on empty stomach or hangover-like, or like a motion sickness. Maybe it is HDR (which you can turn off only by enabling battery saving mode), but maybe some quirks in interface or overly sped-up content.

Also this ugly logo on each video really makes it even worse. I thought when Instagram release their Edits app they will go the same route, turned out NONE you can use it completely as a standalone and free video editor, replaced ad-driven InShot for me

Trump has ordered the U.S. Department of Justice not to enforce the law at the current time.

So laws basically don't matter.
Part of the oath of office for the POTUS is to faithfully enforce the laws of our nation. He is literally failing to uphold the office of the president by ordering the DOJ to not enforce a law. And why? For TikTok? Trump literally originated the legislation to ban TikTok and it was championed and endorsed by House and Senate Republicans.

This I disagree with. I see no reason why it wouldn’t and doesn’t remain useful for continued propaganda and disinformation purposes. Has something changed that would make that untrue? 🤷‍♂️
I just said they don't need it, not that they wouldn't use it. I mean, users will flock somewhere else, again, like Little Red Book (Red Note). China knows this and has prepared for it properly this time, at least I'm very confident they did.
At least I'd be shocked if they didn't have something prepared for all the desperate withdrawn Americans, especially the ones turning their back on the, supposed, freedoms they are granted in the US and side with the CCP.

Who cares about a US ban? The rest of the world can use it. Why should even anyone care except people in the US? 😎
USA. The land of freedom 😇

The master deal maker continues to .... get no deals done.

At this point in the day he's probably already having a double bacon burger at the 19th hole.

I can't believe people voted for this total clown.
Unfortunately, the Democrats did not present a compelling candidate for the future presidency, and their performance over the past four years has been widely criticized. In Europe, political correctness has coincided with large-scale immigration, leaving many concerned about the continent’s future. This growing dissatisfaction has contributed to the rising influence of far-right parties. Many believe that political leaders have mishandled key issues, acting against the will of the people. Cities like Paris, Barcelona, Rome, Stockholm, and Berlin are often cited as examples of this perceived decline.

In the U.S., some voters hoped for a different path. Many viewed Trump’s first term as not entirely negative, and believed he would perform better in a second term, having learned from his previous mistakes. His alignment with figures like Elon Musk further reinforced this belief. Musk, who had ambitions to steer projects like DOGE as if they were private enterprises, also encountered the challenge of dismantling deeply entrenched systems.

Ultimately, it appeared that Trump’s return to power was motivated more by a desire to secure his family’s future than by a broader national vision. Still, it’s difficult to blame those who placed their hopes in the possibility of a better future.

It doesn't look to me like China cares if TikTok is banned.
Very true, because they know we’ll never be banned. As the Republicans are fond of saying, those who control the youth control the future. If the Republicans follow through on trying to ban or banning TikTok, then they’ve screwed themselves for generations.

The Chinese aren’t stupid, most of the world’s not stupid, they know we are feckless.

The real reason behind why the U.S. government wants to ban TikTok is because many posts on TikTok are causing many Americans to see that Israel is committing a genocide against innocent Palestinians. TikTok is showing footage of the barbarism and savagery of the Israeli military, which the American mainstream media deliberately refuses to show in order to propagate the U.S. government’s lie that Palestinians are the aggressors while Israel is the victim defending itself.

In the 1948 Nakba, European Zionist settler colonialist terrorists committed ethnic cleansing by kicking around 750,000 Palestinians off their land and stealing it. Just because over seven decades have passed since doesn’t make it any less bad. The passage of time doesn’t make thieves the rightful owners of stolen property.

TikTok, despite its many flaws, is doing what the American mainstream media refuses to do, which is to allow the truth about Israel to be told: Israelis are the modern-day Nazis. The current genocide in Gaza is the most documented genocide in history, and American politicians of both major parties, most of whom are funded by AIPAC, have a vested interest in hiding that footage of Israel committing genocide against Palestinian civilians.
