I actually prefer Tile for its feature of clicking the tile rings your phone which is an immensely useful feature that Apple should not have left out on their product. Tile’s future may be bleak, but it’s not dead yet.
I'd like the button to be harder to activate, like when your keys are in your pocket. Mine set my phone off when I was sitting in the audience at a local planning and zoning meeting, which was the last straw. As soon as AirTags were available, I ordered one. My Tile then went in my laptop bag.

The QR code sounds like a good idea, but it'll wear off after awhile, and become unreadable, unless there's a durable clear overlay over the label.

I think Tile can still be viable if they can get around the accidental button press issue, and lost device finding improves. The next AirTags need to have a louder speaker - Tile definitely has the advantage there.

It's interesting to see Tile borrowing a page from PingTag's book and putting lost-and-found QR codes on their devices, although they claim to have privacy, but then they expose the person's contact information on the page that opens when that tag is scanned, so there is a bit of a conflict there between what they claim and what they actually do.

I live in NY.. no one is going to use the QR to contact me for lost keys…at best they’ll use it to assist in finding out where I live and rob me with my own keys..
