i haven't seen video of this, but judging by the transcript of the interview that i saw, i took this more tongue-in-cheek than anything else.

Apple online store down

Apple's online store is down with the message "We'll be back. We're busy updating the Apple Store for you and will be back soon." Is there a significance with this happening during D10 (distraction 10)?

In the Q&A, he did throw his support behind fan sites like Macrumors. I thought that was interesting and something Jobs never would have admitted.

I dunno but he said those words three times.

This is code. Tim said "double" three times. 2 x 3 = 6. They will call the next iPhone the iPhone 6.

That's my contribution to all the crazies on here who spent a week trying to decipher the "let's talk iPhone" invite and another week speculating about the hand size to iPad ratio last winter.

confirmed based on what?

"Doubling down on secrecy" when apple is fairly known for it's secrecy is an odd subject to touch on especially given the major leaks out today. It just makes you wonder if there was a meaning behind his message.

And I don’t think anybody should - honestly, the phrase “image a ship that leaks from the top” comes to mind (something that Jobs has said before). Reading tea leaves and taking snippets of a sentence from a CEO is not a good usage of energy. Cook is too smart to reveal anything here that we should read much into. He is simply saying that they are going to continue the secretive nature of Apple only moreso. That’s it. He is just being cagey in how he is saying it is all.

If you don’t think that Tim Cook has answers planned for the most common things he is going to be asked (and has been coached on by others) you don’t know how executives think.

Maybe Apple should leak a ton of random parts to camouflage the real thing.

Apple should leak a ton of random FAKE parts. I'm takin a 2.5 inch iphone, a 5.5 inch iphone, a 13 inch ipad, an 8 inch ipad.

Wouldn't be expensive and they have the means to do anything. Right now its pretty obvious what the next iPhone is gonna sport for the most part. They gotta change that.

All I can think of is this:

Oh no! He's going to put MR out of business, and then how shall I waste away the hours at work? :D

MacRumors are just rumors... doesn't need to be a any credibility, as already proven countless times on this site.

When he says 'double down on secrecy' he means, we are going to give you more controlled leaks you can put on MR and other apple fan sites :)

it's actually more work for MR ;)

I'd suggest he "double down" on updating Mac Pros, but double of zero is still zero.

Next season he will triple down. Oh Jim, Jim, you are a funny guy...

Ooops, I can't even remember the guys name. It is Tim of course!

Not to defend any rumors, but he's referring to current products. Throughout the questioning he's been quick to dodge any un-released product speculation.

Yes, but he said "it's pretty simple if you are developing for this platform".

That would mean that a 4" iPhone would complicate things for developers (of course it would), but interesting words of choice by Tim Cook given that they are about to release a 4" iPhone that will no longer make that the case to a certain extent.

The fall of Rome

The secrecy is specifically why my latest computer is a Hackintosh and not an Apple. Now that I see how easy it can be to make one I'm not sure I'll ever go back. Apple is cutting off its nose to spite its face. And for what real benefit? All it does is annoy people.

It creates hype. Hype is a good thing if you're selling something.

This was a very interesting quote to me in light of the recent rumors about a new iPhone screen aspect ratio. It would seem to refute that rumor.

as long as the next iPhone has a larger screen I don't care how they manage it.
