What a wonderful letter. I'm sure those who like Tim will miss him, including those outside of Apple. He may not have been a "product guy," but he steered Apple into the stratosphere with profits and introduced some great products in his time (Apple Watch, AirPods, Apple Silicon, etc). I won't miss his corny keynote addresses, but I'll miss him.

Johny Srouji and the hardware-team team can’t be underestimated for Apple in any way.

Tims parting gift for us are ads in Maps. He monetized Apple customers as much as he could, made maximum value for AAPL stock holders at the expense of those of us that became locked in the Apple ecosystem decades ago. I'm not a fan.

Apple has bought technology to the masses as well as created wealth by providing a venue to those who want to purvey digital assets to reach all of their customers with a few clicks.

Apple has also generously given to charitable causes throughout the last many years as well as starting on a better environmental path.

That is making things in the world better.

You’re missing that it’s a way for friends to say farewell when they change their relationship. They’re simply pointing out one of the hobbies of someone they worked and lived with for decades, and intimating that Tim is still fit and energetic for his age.

Fair enough. I thought that was a specific job requirement, which anyone in this role could do. Seems strange to phrase this exclusively around the requirements for the security guard.

It’s true. Cell phones existed before the iPhone. Computers existed before the Mac, etc. Apple don’t invent these. But Apple put their spin on them. Steve out his spin on these products and Tim put his spin on these products.
