They don't have to go my way. They go with how the citizens vote and who represents us. If you want to deem it illegal to have anti-discrimination laws then start telling minorities to sit in the back of the bus.

Right...they will go your way, which is the way the citizens have voted through their elected officials...and that way is BAD for minorities, but you seem to be OK with that, as does the ignorant voting population.

Like I said, you win since you refuse to acknowledge the cold hard fact that minorities are higher risk candidates for jobs. It's a pretty lousy way to win an argument, but it's the only way for the purely stubborn and ignorant who cannot win an argument on their own merits.

Again, pure ignorance on your part implying that I am prejudice, when YOU are supporting the laws that discourage minority hiring, and I OPPOSE these laws.

As a person who's been fired because of my "lifestyle", by a manager who's religion deemed me a sinful pervert, I welcome the new protections.

Can you explain how these "protections" will protect you?

I think I understand the fact pattern in your case: An employer hired a homosexual without realizing that the individual was a homosexual. Later, the employer found out that the individual was a homosexual. With the new provision in anti-discrimination laws, the employer is now barred from firing that individual. Thus, it appears that the law has protected that individual from being unjustly fired, not based on performance or merit, but based on lifestyle choice. Do I have it right?

The fact is, legislation will not change what is in the hearts of others. Even with legislation forbidding firing based on lifestyle choice, the homosexual individual will end up leaving a bigoted employer who thinks that their lifestyle is "sinful."

Now, granted, the legislation might buy the homosexual some time to find another job, but in the end, the homosexual will leave the bigoted employer. However, as I've stated before, the minority will have a tougher time finding work, as the minority is riskier to hire.

So again, I ask you to explain, what do these laws protect you from? Maybe you'll be protected from being fired, but, you're not going to want to continue to work for the bigoted employer for long, and now, it's more difficult for you to find work since individuals of a protected class are considered riskier to hire.

If you want protection from being fired from an employer that you are not going to want to work for anyway, while simultaneously making it difficult for you to be hired by an employer that you actually might want to work for, then yes, these laws may help you.
