Apple CEO Tim Cook is touring France this week and has shared some of his experiences along the trip on Twitter.

After making an unexpected visit at the new Apple Store in the port city of Marseille on Sunday, Cook met with Shot on iPhone photographer Jean Claude Luong. Cook then spent some time with Paris-based fashion designer and haute couture house owner Julien Fournié, whose latest collection was created with an iPad Pro.

Cook then had dinner with VizEat co-founders Camilla Rumani and Jean-Michel Petit. VizEat is a social dining service that allows travelers to "taste the city with locals" by booking an experience with a host, such as a cooking class, food tour, dinner, and more. VizEat was named one of the Best Apps of 2016 on the App Store.

Cook still has time for a few more excursions before heading to Scotland, where he is set to receive an honorary degree from the University of Glasgow on Wednesday. Cook was also named the recipient of the Newseum 2017 Free Expression Award in the Free Speech category last week. He will accept that award in April.

A supposingly super full pipeline and a CEO dining in France about to pick up his prize for his ethical achievements for humanity...

... and we worried about a lack of innovative products to be excited about...
If only there was a device that would keep him connected to the office. Heaven forbid a CEO take some vacation or time away from the office, HOW DARE HE NOT BE THERE 24/7/365.

WOW BIG NEWS! Tim Cook is spending his million touring France to get his fake degree! Though, it is probably paid for by Apple. The photo above should be "two people that sell overpriced junk".

I think Cook's Twitter posts speak volumes about his passions in and out of Apple. In general, I think one can break Cook's Twitter posts into three categories: 1) Apple products (including retail), 2) politics (largely focusing on diversity and inclusion), and 3) customer empowerment. Although the average MacRumors reader is probably most concerned with #1, the latter two, based on his statements, very much fit with his vision of Apple and the world.

In this regard, neither post seems impulsive or accidental. You've clearly got one post focusing on customer empowerment that showcases an Apple product (arguably, iPad Pro has brought digital sketching closer to pencil and paper than it's ever been). The second post is about an app that actually emphasizes diversity and inclusion by bringing people from different cultures together for a meal.

Second, Cook's appearance at University of Glasgow is also interesting as he tends not to do many university appearances. He's doing a Q&A with students, faculty, and staff, so it's much more than him simply swinging by to pick up his "fake degree".

I think many would love to see customer empowerment with updated Macs, rather than an iPad (which seems to be Cook's 'computer' of choice).

Did Tim tried those colorful dresses in the background? I'm pretty sure he always wanted one. Who knows some university will award him an honorary doctorate degree in fashion after this visit.

It seems like Tim Cook is a great comedian, good for him, at least he has that to fall back on if this whole Apple CEO thing doesn't workout.

On what basis are you "pretty sure"? Is it because you want one?

No one noticed those pretty dresses until you pointed them out to us all. Thanks.

Wow talk about people being critical of Tim Cook, can't the guy take time out of the office without people either moaning about it or trying to look for his motives. No he must be in there 24/7 working on something that moaners in this forum want, how dare he take time to meet people outside of his office
