I bet a $10 million endowment for a School of LGBT Studies is imminent.
It will replace Sociology and Black studies as the go to program for those
who want to attend college with out the hassle of getting an actual education.

Maps. The very limited availability of the Retina iMac when released which put a hole in that years Q1 earnings. The very public John Browett debacle and the mishandling of Bob Mansfield's "retirement," then "unretirement." And finally, yes, the watch. A stumble is a stumble not a face plant fall. It means something didn't go as smooth as it should have. Do you honestly believe the AW launch was smooth with the awkward way customers had to preview it? Couldn't buy it in the store for months. Couldn't be delivered to online customers who bought 2 minutes after the online store opened for weeks after launch. Look at the front page regarding AW sales and tell me that isn't what you honestly think is a stumble.

On the whole Cook hasn't had any clear major victories. That is my point. If he has please let me know. Happy to be corrected.
Maps started under Jobs. I'm not letting him off the hook on that one. Browett was a mistake but one quickly rectified. What was mishandled around Bob Mansfield? He decided to retire but the guy that replaced him wasn't quite ready for prime time so Cook asked Mansfield to stick around. Once Scott Forstall got the boot it was an easy decision. Mansfield is still there working on special projects. I'm not sure what was mishandled. As far as Apple Watch goes yeah I'm sure if Apple had it all to do over again they might do things a little differently. So what. You live and you learn. If you don't ever make a mistake you never learn anything.

I think you forget that Tim Cook's role is CEO, not chief design officer.

He's doing exactly what his job role is.

Yup, he is doing the job of a normal CEO, and that's why Apple is becoming a normal company.

Elon Musk is a hands on control freak, and his companies and changing the world. go spacex!

False comparison. Steve helped build pixar into an animation power house, and it was aquired by Disney. There is a reason why he played a role in both organizations.

Tim is just stroking his ego while his own Apple projects are in disarray. He should be 100% focused until iOS actually works like it's supposed to, Apple watch isn't a launch mess, and silly projects like the Macbook stop happening.

It's customer experience first. Steve knew that. Tim not so much.

.

So true! Tim is living it up riding on the coat tales of past great decisions. I think it's time for him take a bow...

That was well put.

Tim isn't perfect. He's had enough years running Apple now that we can stop giving him the benefit of the doubt and judge him on his work.

So true. You'll be able to major in LGBT "technology". Great. As you said, more college grads that didn't actually learn anything useful or tangible. Probably with a half million dollars of loans that the taxpayers will end up on the hook for since they'll amazingly find that there are NO jobs out there for such graduates.

Effing wonderful, LOL.

A lot of things -- most things -- Apple has released recently started with a Jobs idea. But Maps was only a project under Jobs. He didn't release it to the public. In fact Jobs was already in the ground nearly a year when Cook did that, prematurely. And then Cook publicly apologized for it. I'm really mystified why you want to cover for Cook's missteps.

All the other things you try to explain away are public record and noted as being a debacle. You can spin it any way you like. But why? Why are you so in love with Tim Cook tenure?
