The recent changes that Apple has made to App Store ads should raise many #privacy concerns. It seems that the #AppStore app on iOS 14.6 sends every tap you make in the app to Apple.

Apple knows everything you do on their devices. Thats obvious
 
It is very easy for me. No Apple Silicon, no macs for me.
As much as Jobs was charismatic, I was never going to buy a Mac with Intel. Once they released the M1 Macs, I bought into the whole ecosystem., watch, iPad Pro, iPhone, AirPods…etc. I like Apple better under Tim Cook. I like Steve's keynotes, but I wasn't buying Apple products.

As if it's enough to simply show a graph of huge growth of the company, as if it's the mic drop.

It is not just about profit. Shareholders. Value-added.

The whole point of this discussion is not whether Apple is profitable as a business (it so obviously is). It's about whether Tim Cook is a numbers guy or a visionary. And I have to say I am not impressed with the actual technology developed under Cook. It is iterative. There are whole product lines which shouldn't exist. It is purely driven by profit and nothing else. It has become risk-averse.

This is why myself and others are slowly turning away from Apple. Not that it will stop this juggernaut of a company. But it is more about prior Apple values and visions being ditched.

Remember the iconic ad for the Apple Mac in 1984? Tim Cook's Apple that is now part of the crusty establishment projected on the screen towards which the athlete hurls the hammer.

Where's the vision? Where's the iconoclasticism? Where is the risk-taking?

A Fortune 100 CEO literally has one job - deliver value to shareholders. Not delivering new icons, taking huge risks without sound financial ROI, etc.

He has teams and product leaders that can go and push boundaries. A CEO's job is to steer the ship to profitability, and he has done that. So it's totally ridiculous that people imply he 'has to go'.

If you read my post, I didn't express agreement that Cook has to go. You're right, he's doing what the shareholders want. But that's the problem. It's people like me who are 'going' - to other alternatives.

This year the family got 4 mac books a few iphone 14s, airpods etc. For every person going there are others that are buying.

But Tim Cook is a visionary. It is not true as MacRumors posters allege that a monkey could have brought Apple to $2T or so since 2011.

Apple may not be for everyone, I understand that. And unlike my cable provider where I have no alternatives, thankfully there are alternatives to those who do not want the Apple ecosystem.
