Assuming his belt loops are 2" then the "phone" would be 6.6" long.
That's a little long for a 7+ even with a case.

It's definitely not an iPhone 7 Plus. But I do think it's an interesting picture nonetheless, but it is possible he could be testing or prototyping the new iPhone.

I think Tim Cook would have to be pretty hypocritical to go out into public on official Apple business with an unreleased product in his pocket. So I'd say it's more than likely this is not in fact the new iPhone.

Thanks for backing up your claim. I'd still argue that a prototype glucose tracker is far and away from the next iPhone, which Tim is likely to be more concerned about keeping a secret.
