It’s no secret I’m an Apple fan boy. I’ve been fortunate enough to be able to purchase and receive all my iPhones
on launch day for the last 13 years. Basically, September is my Christmas.

I’ve been a member of the Mac Rumors community for almost a decade now but I rarely start any new posts.

With that said, when did Apple decide that iPhone Pro Users didn’t like the awesome and vibrant colors the base iPhone receives each year? Everyone of my iPhone have been the Pro model and I can honestly say the colors have been so boring. I want to see that splash of vibrant colors offered across the board.

I know there’s always going to be the argument that we can just use a case and that’s a very valid point but at the end of the day I still would love to see the pro users have access to the awesome vibrant colors the baseline models have.

Do any of you guys / girls out there who use the pro models feel the same?

I don't, but I'm sure some do. I've had iPhones since the 3G and every one (except one) has been either black, Space Gray or (now) Graphite. Only exception was the 6+ which I got in white because I would have had to wait weeks for a black one and it was going right into a case anyway. I'm more of a fan of the subdued/low-key look - even my cases are always black or navy blue.

Judging by how they talked about having to create an all new finishing process to achieve the Sierra Blue color, I'm guessing it's not as easy (or cost effective) to create the wide array of color options for the frosted glass and stainless steel.

Hi, new here and this is my first pro model, kind of sad that I can't get one of the cool colors from the baseline models.

it would be nice to have more colour options.. and also if the pictures shown on the apple website were more like the real colours of the phones.. For instance thee blue Sierra looks nice on the apple page but in reality it seems it's more greyish and dull. On the other hand, the gold looks nicer on the videos than the photo, same for the pink

I’d guess it’s simply that the fun colors don’t have a “premium” feel to them.

I think it's exactly this

I like some of the vibrant colors too, but they definitely have more of a everyday vibe than the luxury tier phone Apple is going for with the Pro models. I don't think of "pro" moniker as "professional" - it's more like the difference between Toyota/Lexus or Honda/Acura

It was sarcasm but eh I will play for fun. Bright cheap looking colors making it look and feel like a cheap toy phone. Upscaled colors on the Pro classy, mature and elegant=sophisticated non peasant smell me I got $.
At least you could cover yours with a skin and regain the missing sophistication and polished design.

Many of us remain irked and stuck a cheap-looking operating system gimped by the continual use of often-unintuitive flat design and dumbed-down “Fisher Price My First Computer”-like unfinished-looking still-too-stark-white OS’s on the mobile devices and computers.

I agree! Like, you can add extra colors only for pro models, but I’d like to be able to choose some of the cool colors on the base models

Because of the Stainless steel they use. The 7000 series Aluminum they use has "texture" to it because its a alloy. Similar to Titanium. The SS doesnt.

Yes, that’s exactly how I feel. I would love some of the colors from the non-pro line but I just can’t go back down in size after getting used to the Pro Max.

To be honest I don't think the base 13 colours are all that vibrant this year, except from Product Red. Blue is a little too dark to be what I'd consider vibrant and pink is very washed out.

I've never had a 'pro' phone before, though I did have an iPhone X which I suppose is what later evolved into the Pro line. I'm happy to see something on the pro lineup that's not black or silver (as it was when I purchased the iPhone X)!

I would like there to be an equal amount of options on the Pros as on the baseline, though I'm not expecting exactly the same colours. I think it's nice that there's a bit of differentiation between the lines.

And vice versa, would love a graphite mini.

I wish you could customize more, like you now can with Xbox controllers. I’ve always wanted a black iPhone with a red Apple logo, or black with a purple apple on the back.

I’d pay extra for that option.

In reverse. I LOVE the minis. I wish they had the finishing of the Pros

LOL. Didn't realize it was meant to be sarcastic :)

Non-peasant. What a funny description. Meanwhile, rustic is all the rage these days. ;-) ... well, to a certain extent.

What makes a color "toy" or "peasant" versus "upscaled"?
This is something that is hard to explain. I work a lot with colors and there are just some that are more upscale and sophisticated than others. Yet, I would not be able to explain to someone why that is. I would not at all be interested in the iPhone 13 colors. I love the sophistication of the Pro colors and am really glad that Apple sets the Pro apart that way.

Ok, instead of thinking about "why" a color is more or less upscale, can you define the parameters of what colors are more upscale than others?

For example, I imagine upscale colours would tend to be more subtle and less flashy and bright? (But then one thinks about those red bottoms of -- is it Vera Wang high heels? -- and that theory doesn't fully hold.)
