As a logistics guy who had risen through the ranks as a supply-chain virtuoso, Jobs' famous "Real artists ship!" quip must have played right into Cook's sense of self-image at Apple.
Steve Job’s choice was the best. Tim has brought Apple to the highest position ever in Apple history!! The evidence has been overwhelming displayed and well known. Tim deserves all the appreciation rewards! Superb job and Steve Job’s choice instinct!

The theory is that without Apple the phone market eventually turns into something of a Duopoly between Nokia and Blackberry making Finland and Canada the silicon superpowers. Apps never take off with everything done via IM a la WeChat in China to the point that you IM your smart devices to get them to do anything. With this in mind, QWERTY remains king.
The original Android device that looks like a Blackberry is released and fizzles away, unable to shift BBM from the top of the market.
Apple are eventually bought by Microsoft for their patent portfolio and design team.
Cook would be the type of dude to remove 2 of ribs in order to “stretch better”. No one gives a hit, Timmy. If you want to thank someone, thank the engineers, the researchers and the designers for changing the world through these products.

How about the 1000’s of employees that kept Cook in a job and made him a millionaire?? The guy who wants staff in the office, yet globetrotters like frequent flyer miles are going out of fashion.
I will never forget reading about Cook refusing to go to the first Apple Watch meeting with the Board, because he’s not a “hardware guy”.
The sooner a hardware visionary is at the helm, the better.

I wish Cook would speak from the heart about stuff instead of this bland Apple-style corpo-speak all the time. Apple leaders and press releases sound identical.
Don't forget why Tim Cook was hired: he was tasked with getting rid of unsold Macs, ended up landfilling them. An environmental disaster.
If AAPL trends to zero, then there is no Apple.

I always wonder where Apple would be if Steve was still alive. He definitely was the soul of the company and the reason why Apple is what they are.
Interesting to see these letters. Tim has successfully led the company all these years. The Steve Jobs archive website is a good site.
