Craig really does seem like the single nicest guy you could ever meet. He is a true joy to listen to and is the most passionate guy I ever hear at Apple events and talks in such an engaging and personable way.

Also love his humour, which makes a Keynote for me.

Apple really have a crack team at the top with Craig and Jony.

I would love this customer care position as I feel Apple needs a digital presence especially interacting on forums and engaging with customers to help move forward and develop no only great new technologies but also devices and services people are wanting and needing.

Apple should let Craig be the face as much as possible. He's fantastic.

I can think of only one time in five years that Apple even responded to my interview requests. That's why I no longer request interviews for articles and research reports, even as a courtesy.

Microsoft was the same but has gotten much better in the past year or so.

Second that, as a former tech freelancer. Under Steve, Apple PR often left out both the P and the R. Only "A List" media got any access at all.

Steve jobs was a tyrant that turned apple around

Why be friendly when that was successful?

Because they have a much, much wider target group these days thanks to the iPad and iPhone, it's not only the "omg I love this underdog company that builds my shiny computer so much!"-crowd anymore and with the much bigger public exposure they won't get around being nice. Also a reason why the beats image boost that some people seem to find offensive isn't a bad thing from a plain realistic standpoint.

Agreed. I've been saying this time to time that this man CAN. TALK. to the audience and engage them with ease. I think he's the only one who's got the gift of dealing with live presentations.

Not only that, he should have been CEO in the first place. Some may disagree but Cook could've stayed as Operations while Craig becomes the new face to keep things at ease.

This would have never happened if Steve was alive.

And that's the truth.

What exactly? They wouldn't be looking for a new PR person?

That's a fake twitter as confirmed by the man himself. ;)

Or just make Craig Federighi CEO already <3

I love him but nothing really indicates he would be a good CEO. He's always been a software engineer, that's his forte.

Craig is awesome. I laughed out loud when he did the metal sign during the presentation. He might be a better presenter even than Steve Jobs.

They're both great but their styles differ. I couldn't choose one over the other.

Nah, keep Craig doing what he does best. We don't need him dealing with supply chain, retail, investors, HR, etc. Let Cook as CEO keep the trains running on time.

Wasn't Craig very nervous during the Lion intro, which was his first? It wasn't until after that he got great at it. Hindsight is 20/20.

Uh, no. They wouldn't be looking for a friendlier and more approachable PR head.

:rolleyes::rolleyes:

Double roll-eyes. You lose.

And is that such a bad thing? Unless I was misinterpreting your post and you didn't imply it was...

:)rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:)

Apple to replace Cook with a strong leader, brilliant at keeping the employees on task, motivated and focused.

Understands the retail market online as well as brick mortar stores, he is very well versed at capturing young people's attention and admiration.

Very familiar with the music business, expertise in all phases of the industry, Mr. Knight will lead Apple skyward with profits that will stun people.

Not hardly, as I thought I made clear in another post. Under Steve, the media's experience with Apple's PR department was a lot about talking to the hand. Back in 2001 I spent the better part of six months trying to obtain a review copy of OSX for a column I was hoping to write on what was then the brand new OS. They ran me around in endless circles for that entire time, promising but not delivering. So not only was the column never written, I was left with a really sour taste.

In fact had I been otherwise unsympathetic towards Apple I might have written instead a scathing column about Apple PR not being able to find its own backside with both hands. I sure got a bit of insight into why others in the tech media so often write scathingly about Apple.

A friendlier and more open PR Department? Yeah, I think that would be a good idea.

+1 re: Craig Federighi

It's amazing a software engineer can be so personable and comfortable in front of a live audience. He's come a long way since his very first keynote presentation. The recent WDC keynote had Craig onstage more than I've seen him at any other keynote, and that was a smart decision by Tim Cook. I really enjoyed his presentations and off-the-cuff comments. That type of off-script commentary would probably have driven Steve Jobs bonkers.

So finding the "friendlier face" of Apple isn't going to be easy when they already have that person in Craig.

No. He's a software guy. He's absolutely perfect where he is now.

Huh... One of his tweets mentions that 'some of the rumours are quite accurate' and he's gone and favourited various concepts for the iPhone 6, Healthbook (before it was announced) and iWatch. Welp, I guess we know what's coming.

Having Craig as CEO would mean he's no longer VP of Software Engineering and that would be a bad thing, as clearly he can design great systems.

Absolutely love the new Apple and of course I also love the Hair Force One who seems now to be able to ignite his full potential of approachability.

Damn, and that keynote...
And iOS 8...

This is a very good year, basically what I had been waiting for for so long.
