How about Tim Cook "Bingo card" with all of the"apple-isms on display to follow along with the audio stream.

I bet he's super excited about all the amazing things Apple has in development, and it's going to be their best product line up ever :D

In lieu of video, we get something that looks like a Windows Phone menu:

Does anyone know if a recording of this will be posted to the Apple Earnings podcast feed later? I'm guessing not, since it's not an earnings call, but it would be nice if this sort of event could also be delivered via podcast.

wow what a low quality and quiet stream?

What microphone are they using or really old conference system which is distorting constantly...

Yes

Tim also gave a much more compelling reason for why the Watch will succeed. Can't wait.

My feeling is if the Watch was going to be the failure people say it is we'd be hearing a lot more negative rumors about the product. We'd be hearing rumors about people leaving the Watch team or being upset with the leadership/direction of the product. So far we've heard none of that. The only rumor that could be considered negative is battery life issues. I honestly believe if this product really was a dud the rumor mill would be reflecting that.

Hey we got "verticals" and "n number of...". Tim knows his corporate speak. :D

I think it's way too early to guess. We'r enot seeing very much because Apple is being very tight with the Watch so far.

aside from a few people in the wild for testing (who probably have signed NDA), and Apple employees. Nobody has them yet. everything we've talked about with the watch over the last few weeks has been mostly rumour and conjecture.

however, I dont think there's anything fundamentally wrong with the Apple Watch. The looks are subjective and the product features again, are subjective in use.

I don't think it's going to be the resounding success (it won't fail though) that many people htink it will be because it's a smartwatch, and Apple really hasn't done much to distinguish themselves here as anything better than the competition. it's still a blank square black screen, with a metal frame.

There's not enough here, just like all the other competition to make standard watch wearers to suddenly forego their watch, which is closer to jewelry, and its unlikely you're suddenly going to convince the masses of non watch wearers to start wearing one regularly (especially one you have to charge everyday, or multieple times a day). Ad on the requirement to have an iPhone and Apple is facing an uphill climb.

However it is Apple. The RDF is strong and there are enough millions of people who will buy it just because it has the logo somewhere on it.

First $700 billion company! Apple closed at $122.02 today. Its market cap of $710.74 billion is nearly double Google's.

I'll give an example. On a recent iMore podcast Rene Ritchie mentioned that he's heard Kevin Lynch (running software for Watch) is really respected inside Apple and he's doing a fantastic job. Ritchie also said he's heard that employees using the watch are very bullish on it. Last year MG Siegler said those who have seen the watch are "very impressed" with it. Now perhaps Apple has been able to really keep this product locked down and that's why we're not hearing anything. But we have heard rumors about issues with Maps, iCloud, Music. So it's not like discord inside Apple doesn't leak.

What was Microsoft's market cap at its peak if you adjust for inflation? Apple's got to be getting close to that now.

In nominal terms it was about $600 billion, so adjusted for inflation it's around $850-900 billion.

I don't get the feeling that the product will be a dud from the standpoint of not being the best smartwatch out there. But I do question whether it really will be a must have accessory. It's basically a second screen for my phone. My phone got bigger so now I need a small screen for my wrist? I do believe this may someday be a good portable/wearable computing form factor (once the need for the accompanying phone goes away), but it feels like it's an overstretch to believe generation 1 will have huge mass market appeal.

Time will tell. Pun not intended.
