Because as much as I really wanted one and probably could use it, I am more than satisfied with my current Mac Pro and my MacBook Pro, both which do everything I throw at them save for the few tasks that do take quite long. Those few tasks that take forever I can wait a few hours longer, I'll survive.

The moment I saw it in the store, I was astonished to how small and beautiful it was. When I got home and looked at my receipt, I realized how much money I had just blown on a computer that I didn't really need yet.

Also if I'm really going to buy this, I would get a slightly higher configuration than available in-store. Sure it's fast now, but in 3-4 years, the current base configurations will likely be too slow. My current 4 year old Mac Pro is still at the top of its game.

How do you like EyeTV and what tuner do you use with it?

I've noticed a couple of compatible network tuners that look interesting. Trying to figure out how to do an alternative to Dish Network or Cable and save $70 per month. I am thinking OTA DVR + iTunes series purchases + Netflix (maybe).

Also, is there a good solution for automatic edit of commercials like the Dish Hopper?

I use the EyeTV 250 Plus. Still on analog cable :)

I used to manually edit commercials out using EyeTV, but decided it was no longer worth my time. Most of what I record is watched once and then deleted anyway. I do not know if there is other software available to automatically remove commercials.

My experience with EyeTV has generally been good. Their support is fairly responsive. The biggest downfall is when you need them to interact with TV Guide for changes. I have EyeTV running on a server in the basement, and use it to record shows, then encode and dump them into iTunes so very little is watched on this machine directly, likely neglecting many of its features others may use. Watching it live from another Mac via the browser is not a great experience, but using their app on iOS is pretty decent.

so when can i see a video of this? (I don't have ABC news or whatever here in Norway)

Seems to me the interview was only 4 min long... anyone seen a longer version?
