I hope he talks like a real person this time and not just Apple's CEO.

Except that he IS just Apple's CEO when he does these discussions. Everything he says can and will be held against him in a court of public, analyst, and investor option. He can't take off his CEO hat anymore than Obama could take off his President hat. It's part of his persona now.

Please please please someone ask APPLE to forget about improving the camera or other unnecessary things, THEY ONLY NEED TO IMPROVE THE BATTERY LIFE OF THE IPHONE. who cares if it weighs a little bit more. This whole thing they have about making it smaller thinner, slimmer is ridiculous. WE NEED A BETTER DAMN BATTERY APPLE!!!!! Pay attention!!!!!!!!!

My iPhone 5 lasts over a day on a charge and I do use it to a moderate extent for talk and data. Maybe your usage is extremely heavy and not indicative of a defect in design. Get a powerboost shell if that's your situation... don't ask them to make the phone larger and thicker for the rest of us. (Fortunately, Apple isn't likely to do that anyway.)

I wish I was at home right now so I had access to Photoshop.

Tim :

I just want to let the pro users out there know we have our new Mac Pro here.

It's thinner and lighter than any Mac Pro ever !! With breakthrough technology from a collaboration with Intel we're able to put in the new mini-xeon processor with eight cores and the greatest graphics ever with the new HD5000 GPU.

It has Thunderbolt and USB 3.0. It's highly upgradeable. All you have to do is attach one of the great Thunderbolt external hard drives and it can run up to 2 external displays.

We hope the pro user likes it.

It will be out in June starting at $3599.

Disable all those junkie apps that want to use Locator Services all the time, disable Automatic Time Zone and time Set.
And turn off WiFi when you are not using it. When on the road (specially on a crowded city), all phones scan and try to connect to every access point broadcasting around it. The weaker the signal, the more power it uses. All this drains your battery faster.

There is a part of me that would equally like to hear what Samsung has to say about the future. Of course, they're vilified on this forum but it's my thought nonetheless.

Samsung will have nothing meaningful to say. I remember when The Verge did an interview with HTC's CEO, and asked him why they don't have any smaller flagship phones. He basically answered - "I don't know."

"Apple is a tremendous company to work for. I love my job. Our earnings growth is spectacular. We have an intense interest in many different areas of technology and have a lot of great things in the pipeline and some surprises for sometime this year and next year. Thank you."

Clap clap clap

D11 over.

Ummm..... Samsung, much like Apple, doesn't innovate as much as improve on others' work. FYI Macintosh didn't have the first GUI, iPod wasn't the first digital music player, iPhone wasn't even close to the first smartphone by any measure, and iPad wasn't the first tablet computer.

Both Apple and Samsung could have this quote from Jurassic Park by Dr. Ian Malcolm applies to them

"I'll tell you the problem with the scientific power that you're using here, it didn't require any discipline to attain it. You read what others had done and you took the next step. You didn't earn the knowledge for yourselves, so you don't take any responsibility for it. You stood on the shoulders of geniuses to accomplish something as fast as you could, and before you even knew what you had, you patented it, and packaged it, and slapped it on a plastic lunchbox, and now you're selling it, you wanna sell it."

Ah yes, another one of you people who seem to think a idea alone = product. No, sorry. A product is ALL about implementation. Ideas are worthless if not properly executed.

I'm getting tired of "Apple didnt invent this, apple didn't invent that." I think you need to reread the definition for innovation. It's sorely confused for invention.

Do you think Nikola Tesla was the first person to THINK of bringing electricity into everyone's homes? No, him and Edison (and many others) pursued it. Teslas innovation was in his IMPLEMENTATION, his ideas for achieving that vision and doing it safely for public use. Anyone could have thought of powering homes with electricity. Bringing it safely into the home was 99% of the battle.

You're ****** kidding us, right?
Name anything Samsung has done that has ever been more than a modified 'me too'.
What Macintosh, iPod, iPhone or iPad have they every come up with?

Well, I guess you have a point with their brilliant roll-out presentations like Radio City of the Bollywood fiasco this week.

Well, Sir, Samsung enabled Apple and other companies to make those products by researching and developing the components. All Apple does is put readily available hardware together. Samsung also holds almost 12000 mobile communication related patents to Apple's ~400, so don't call Samsung a copier, just because you have no idea about what's it is doing. Do some research, you might be impressed as well.

FX News: Foxconn just leaked pictures of Tim's next speech.

Nǐ hǎo.
We're going to Pentuple down on secrecy.
Don't look at my hands.
We're working very closely with our manufacturing partners.
And we have some really great stuff coming in the 2013.
We're going to Octuple down on secrecy.
Apple is a tremendous, tremendous company to work for.
One of our areas for growth are potential new categories.
We're going to Decuple down on security.
TV is an area of intense, intense interest.
I can't say more than that.
We're going to Centuple down on security.

He'll answer No questions with any substance and continue to say "We Have Great Things in The Pipeline.

It will be nothing more than a rehash of the earnings call.

I sure hope that this time around he does actually have great things in the pipeline.

Cause in the last keynote I remember him saying, you see we promised you we had great things in the pipeline for this year.

And the truth is he had the same old things only thinner (not the ipad though which was fatter), and/or smaller, and/or with a high resolution screen.

All of which were either overpriced, under powered, laggy, buggy, image retaining, scratch prone or delayed. And some just didn't materialize at all for no apparent reason, such as the cinema display and the mac pro.

Of course Samsung is innovative. Innovation, as you know, consists of the following:
1. Bigger screen
2. Cheaper

Well the knife cuts both ways, and since you mentioned it, innovation for apple lately consists of:

1. Higher resolution screen (made by samsung when if it's not to have image retention)
2. More expensive
3. Thinner.

There is a part of me that would equally like to hear what Samsung has to say about the future.

I have a un46b8500 TV which was quite expensive back in the day for a TV. Software was out of date, the day after I bought it.

Samsung bluray, same, no software support.

Had a Samsung Galaxy S, again software updates stopped soon after I bought it.

Hardware is great. However, Apple showed Samsung the importance of software and what you can do with it. At least I assume Samsung has started to put more emphasis on software; haven't bought anything Samsung with the expectation of any type of on-going support lately (e.g. learned my lesson). Samsung has had their chance, dominant in many markets, they did nothing with it.

Wow, your phone lasts for over a day on a charge? And you have to use it moderately too?

Seriously in 2013 that's something to be proud about. When other phones last for a few days? So apple can tout a few less grams in weight and a slimmer profile? So basically your days revolve around charging the phone every day and a half....

I don't know how you can say your satisfied with this situation and keep a straight face to be honest Mike. I would wager that if we took a poll now asking what would people like, a few more grams on the phone and a few more mm in width with a battery lasting for 3-4 days instead of how much it does now, over 80% would vote for option a, which is not what apple is doing.

Don't take my word for it though, be my guest and open a poll in the forums and get back to me on what the result was.

Can't wait to hear him talk about everything but the things I really want to know.

It's hard to tell nowadays if comments like the one above are genuine or part of Samsung's PR/social campaign. They've already been busted trolling message boards disparaging competing products, paying celebrities to tweet positive comments about their products and having a small army of pretend users tweeting positive things about themselves.

Damn you! You foiled my plan. Seven years on these forums, and for what?! Of all the forum members, the po-po got me! Nice police work ;)

Seriously though, you people are funny. Many of you have come and gone. When the best days were around, most of you were on your Windows computers before you got stung by the halo effect. Others, true to Apple until the end. Either way, it's entertaining. Oh, and stop taking this stuff so seriously lol
