...if you buy an Apple car it'll probably come with iPhone integration and if have an Android phone you won't be able to use the infotainment system, open the doors, or start the engine.

certainly a massive pull for apple for customers with all the devices and services it works so well with.

An Apple car sounds like it would be the ultimate iPhone accessory.

Tim Cook: We Love to Work on Products Where Hardware, Software, and Services Intersect

... and this is also the reason why they lose focus on the QUALITY of their products?

Sadly I presume this means that Apple will never develop/release a health band that brings the best of Apple's current and future health features to the unwashed masses at an accessible price. "Think Different" is now just "Think Win/Win/Win" (the elusive triple win). Lives not saved, towns and environments destroyed by the perfection of disposable high-tech devices, but "We love the Win/Win/Win magic" (letting society absorb the spillover costs because "need to get to a trillion$$ in stock buy backs".)
Apple accepts your obsolete tech and recycles it.

I understand the concerns about e-waste, but Apple has a direct policy to address that. It's hindered by the pandemic as fewer people can actually go to an Apple store, but that should be addressed in the next six to 12 months.

Apple is not under any obligation to product products at a certain price point, so the "unwashed masses" can buy them. If you want to ding Apple for that, please feel free ("think different" is replaced by "think win/win/win"). Apple does it's bit to use it's wealth and resources for the greater good of mankind, maybe not in the exact way you personally would like them to, but many of the efforts have been documented in the MacRumors news feed.
should be rephrased as: we love to work on products that we can sell for a high premium, lock our customers in with our software eco-system, and then sell them monthly subscriptions.
Who is locked in? I admit it, I'm locked in. And I'm locked in not because Apple locked me in, I'm locked in because of the mediocrity of Android. So sure I can move to android and pay google and dropbox instead of Apple, but them I'm moving to an operating environment I personally find inferior to IOS. And while I'm at it, extra icloud space, ATV+, AC+ are all worth it to me. Those who find Apple products and services are not worth the price, there is a LOT of competition out there.

Don't you mean where ka-ching, ka-ching, and ka-ching-ka-ching-ka-ching-ka-ching-ka-ching-ka-ching-ka-ching-ka-ching-ka-ching-ka-ching-ka-ching-ka-ching-ka-ching-ka-ching intersect?

If this is how Apple decides what products to go forward with, I wonder why they haven’t launched an Apple branded television set?

They still haven’t figured out where they fit into the media market. Apple TV+ is a bit of a bust right now. They envisioned packaging networks onto the Apple TV as subscription channels either in bundles or individually but the networks don’t want to forfeit the 30% when they have other avenues, direct sales, or their own streaming apps that don’t require Apple to benefit.

They really dropped the ball when they let Apple TV sit dormant for a few years and didnt get ahead of the streaming craze. Now, to put a high priced item like a TV out there that would require an Apple TV built in that is upgradable for the lifespan of a television (roughly seven years). That probably goes a little outside what they want ti support. They tend to release these fringe products and let them sit stagnant for a few years before addressing them again (the original Thunderbolt monitor, Apple TV, Mac Mini).

The Apple TV itself is priced low enough that consumers can justify upgrading every three or four years and likely had a higher markup percentage than most TVs. And its strictly a computer with display outputs so no maintenance or support needed for display issues which can plague that category.

Maybe I'm in the minority, and it could be why Apple hasn't gotten into the television market, but we haven't upgraded our tv in more than a decade (LG plasma still going strong). TV's have gotten so cheap, that the challenge may also be showing consumers some value that would justify the likely higher price. Although that being said, Apple gets millions of people to spring for $800-$1200 iPhones every year, so it shouldn't be an issue to spend $1k on a nice 4k-6k tv every 5+ years.

TV resolution staying the same, its harder to justify throwing out a TV that still works and looks good to just upgrade the software on it. Its a different mentality. Apple made it easier with the phones with the new every year or two year programs. I don’t think they want to start swapping refurbished TVs. Who knows.

Yes as I am finding with my top of the range Samsung Soundbar - the hardware is willing but the software is not and their support is beyond rubbish - Got so fed up waiting in chat for 20 minutes with no-one replying I clicked on their "emailtheCEO" button and it crashed..wont be buying another S product. Say what you like about Apple and Amazon but at least they normally sort issues in "real-time"
