Hi. Hopefully a quick bit of advice. I have a 3rd generation Apple Time Capsule as my router at home. I want to extend the wifi in our house as some areas get very poor signal.

With new wifi technology out there what's the best setup? Should I just keep the Time Capsule as the main router and by an airport express to extend the signal or is there a better way to get the most from the wifi?

Use an Extreme if possible. Both the latest tall TC and Extreme have beam forming from multiple antenna and they both do 802.11AC. Simply extend the TC wifi network with the Extreme.

Sweet. Cheers. I guess the even better option would be a new TC as well but I'm not made of money.

So TC as router and Extreme as the repeater

Try one new Time Capsule or Extreme and replace the old. It is a stronger output and may work fine with just one. That being said, the new Extreme supports Time Machine to USB hard drives.
