My TC has gained a number after it, 871001 or something like that, like it's factory reset itself. I can't connect and the password I setup is not being accepted. It all happened after repeated warnings about DNS numbers not being found. I ignored those and it would always resolve the issue automatically a few seconds later. I still have internet access, but I can't get to the files on the TC. Tried pushing the reset button for 10 seconds and also unplugging the TC too.

If it helps, I have an ethernet cable connection from mac mini to the TC. I usually keep airport turned off (would it conflict if I turned it back on?) the TC is then connected to my cable router.

so when you look at your HD, it shows your TC under "Shared" but cant get to your files ? What happens when you click on "Connect As" ?

Also you may want to try to get into your TC via Airport Utility and see if the settings are reset back to the factory setting.
