I just want to say that I bought my 500gb TC in August and it has NEVER worked properly for me. Seriously, NEVER. I have spend weeks troubleshooting this thing, and I can't get it to function properly. The wifi has no problem, but forget about using it with Time Machine. TC is the only Apple product that I ever really regretted buying.

Had my 500GB time capsule since release day. No problems what so ever, works like a dream. Even the remote log in from another network.

If you need the backup solution, then keep it. If you don't , it's a waste of money.

I agree. If I outgrow the drive... then buy another one.

Sucks if I outgrow time capsule, great for apple, gotta buy another time capsule.
Well, if you do outgrow a TC and it's still working, you could buy an external drive for the TC. No need to buy a new TC.

But to me, the advantages* of the TC are outweighed by the potential for problems at 18 months and the extra cost.

* - advantages for the TC include faster AirDisk performance due to SATA connection vs. USB2; better aesthetics vs. AEBS+extHDD
