Hi,

I have a new Time Capsule, and I would like to use it solely with my Mac Air. Now, my Mac Air connects with a shared network, for internet, and I am looking for a setup where I can use the Time Capsule from my Mac Air, while still being connected to the WiFi network for internet. Basically I need to be connected to two WiFi networks concurrently (the shared internet network, and the Time Capsule network).

Is that possible, and if so, how?

TIA, KB

I just installed my TC yesterday on an existing wireless network. During setup in Airport Utility, it asks if you are adding it to an existing network or if it is going to be its own network. I selected to add it to the existing network and it set itself up as a repeater on the same network, essentially extending the wireless range.

Now limiting anyone else to the TC drive is another story. I would think you can set up permissions to do that. I think it asked me for a password when I set mine up, so no one can get in without the pw.
