All,

Like some of you, my 1st gen Time Capsule died. Is the internal drive a 3.5" sata? I'm looking to purchase a enclosure and I want to make sure I purchase the correct one.

Thanks,

Habitus :apple:

3.5" SATA yes.

you could always put it into a desktop computer if you wanted.

Thanks for the help! Yea, I thought about it, but I'm going to get a $19.99 sata enclosure on macsales. Also, purchasing the enclosure gives me an excuse to purchase more RAM for my 13" MBP! 2GB doesn't cut it 🙂

Thanks,

good call 😉 2GB - yea that would struggle!

oh also, forgot to mention - you most likely wont be able to access the drive when you mount it the first time. here is how to fix that:
1. "Get Info" on the drive.
2. go to the "sharing permissions" section and hit the lock button. enter admin password etc.
3. hit the "+" (plus) button.
4. select your user name from the list and hit apply/ok.
5. ensure you have read/write privileges.
6. hit the "cog" (next to "+" sign), and choose "apply to enclosed items". this will enable you to have full access to everything inside the drive.

that should be it. thought youd like to know 🙂 (just incase)
