Just need to point this out:
I purchased a 1TB Time Capsule from the Apple Store yesterday and an interesting thing happened:
When they scanned the item in and the clerk was surprised that the register/scanner they were using never asked for a serial number. I was sort of surprised too. Then they said that there usually is a restocking fee on this kind of item, but when their computer does not ask for a serial number, then the restocking fee isn't applicable.
I'm looking at my receipt right now. There's no restocking fee listed on it - much unlike then I bought my iMac & iPod. When I purchased those it had the restocking fee warning about returned opened items.
Be forewarned: They may change this sooner or later, but I'd thought I'd point it out to the community.
