Quick question. I plan on using a 2TB time capsule as my router and a wifi hard drive. I am wondering if I will be able to split it so 768gb (size of my macbook) for time machine and have the rest be a seperate partition for files like movies, music etc?

I think you can do that - but I don't think TM will back up the data on TC.

There is no way to partition a Time Capsule drive, but you can still just go ahead and put the movies and music on the same partition as the Time Machine backups. I just make a folder at the base of the TC drive and store files there. It will just reduce the space available for Time Machine backups is all.

Just be aware those file are not going to be backed up anywhere.
